For before all of creation there was a certain quiet, as is reasonable, because the Word was in God. For if Asterius has come to believe that “God is the maker of all things,” clearly he will also agree with us that God has always existed because he never had a beginning to his existence, and that everything else has been made by him and has come into being out of nothing. For I do not suppose he would believe someone who says that certain things were uncreated. Rather, he is convinced precisely that both heaven and earth and everything in heaven and on earth has been made by God. Now if he would believe this, he must confess with us that there was nothing else except for God. Therefore, the Word had his own glory while being in the Father.
