Now because of this it seems good to me now to go through the things which I have not already gone through earlier. For most of what he wrote has become clear to us from what has already been said. What it says is, “I have brought you out from the womb before the Morning Star” (Ps 110:3). Certainly he thought that perhaps secretly removing the adverb “out” would coincide with the purpose of the heresy. For this reason he wanted to cross out the most important syllable and so designate his initial generation above.
