Therefore just as the almighty God foreordained the church long ago, in the same way, having first laid the foundation in his mind (Pro 8:23), he also foreordained the dispensation of Christ according to the flesh, through which he “foreordained” to call the race of godly people “to adoption” (Eph 1:5, Rom 8:30). For this reason the apostle clearly proclaims him who “by the Holy Spirit was foreordained to be the Son of God” (Rom 1:4).
