We said in our previous comments that Christ our Lord has had a beginning to his reign, using proofs from the divine Scriptures. There is one which says, “I was established by him as king on Zion, his holy mountain” (Ps 2:6), and another which says, “The Lord reigns. Let the peoples be angry” (Ps 99:1), and again, “The Lord reigns. Let the earth rejoice” (Ps 97:1). And you can show that through the Word the man received a beginning to his reign because there is an abundance of altogether thousands of passages to use as witnesses. Therefore if he began his reign no more than almost four hundred years ago, it is not counterintuitive if the Apostle says that the one who acquired this reign such a little time ago will hand this reign over (1 Cor 15:28), clearly to God who established him as king, as Scripture says (Ps 2:6).
