In this letter Marcellus defends his understanding of christology as being in line with that of the Council of Nicaea. In the process he cites a creed that is essentially identical to the Roman baptismal creed (and is our earliest witness of it). For the complete introduction, text, and English translation by Glen L. Thompson, see The Correspondence of Pope Julius I. Library of Early Christianity 3 (Washington D.C.: Catholic University of America Press, 2015), 5-23.
