DeRossi – Inscriptiones Christianae Urbis Romae
Giovanni Battista de Rossi (1822-1894) was a noted scholar and the founder of modern Christian archaeology. An expert in archaeology, epigraphy, and the topography of Rome, de Rossi developed a deep passion for Christian antiquity. His studies, in fact, led to a rediscovery of the Christian catacombs. In 1843, de Rossi developed a plan to produce a published critical edition of Rome’s Christian inscriptions. The list below presents the contents of Volume II, Inscriptiones Christianae Urbis Romae.
