For it is impossible for three hypostases—if they were to exist—to be united in a monad unless the three first originated from that monad. Saint Paul said that those things which did not belong to the unity of God are only “gathered up” (Eph 1:10) to the monad, for the Word and the Spirit alone belong to unity of God.
