And Asterius should not think it implausible if his body, although younger than him, was able to have such an ancient character. Rather, he should above all understand that even if the human flesh happens to be younger, nevertheless the Word, who saw fit to assume it through the holy virgin, uniting his own self to it, not only made the man created in him (Col 1:16) the “firstborn of all creation” (Col 1:15), but he also desires hims to be the beginning of all things, not only of those on earth, but also of those in heaven (Col 1:20).
