Paulinus wrote these things not remembering the Gospel teaching, instead confessing that “some were moved by themselves, and that others were led to this position by the persuasion of the aforementioned men.” Then in the end, as if supplying some grand conclusion, he appended the words of Origen to his own letter, as if Origen were more persuasive than the evangelists and apostles. These are the words he added: “It is time to resume the matter of the Father and Son and Holy Spirit to go through a few things which were passed over at that time. As for the Father, existing indivisibly and inseparably, he is the father of the Son, but he does not bring him forth, as some think. For if the Son is brought forth from the Father and is his offspring just like the offspring of animals, it is necessary that both the one who brings forth and the one who is brought forth have bodies.
